Where's your website now? How's it performing?

You likely know that it needs improvement - that's why you're reading this. But my first step is a thorough assessment of the SEO strengths and weaknesses of your website.

It's an important step.

  • I want to safeguard the high-performing aspects.
  • ...and then guide, support, and/or put in place the aspects to fix the poor aspects.

Any assessment from me comes wrapped in a tailored report. This report is a key feature of my SEO process - more about that later.

The current assessment includes:

  • A domain authority ranking: Basically, how much power your website has in its ability to rank well in searches. More about the tools I use later, but my preferred tool is Moz. Domain authority ranking is a useful metric outputted from Moz's software.
  • What keywords you're currently ranking well for. And which pages these keywords land on.
  • Are there any issues with your website that are preventing you from ranking.

 

Where should you be? Where's the money?

The next step is identifying where you should be within search engine searches. What are the keywords your customers are using? What could be their intent behind them? From information searches through to searches that show they're ready to buy.

This analysis stretches from individual keywords, through to keyword phrases.

I'll take an agreed amount of products and services to examine. And for each thoroughly:

  • Investigate keywords around the subject area
  • Check keyword monthly search volumes - judge how great an opportunity it is.
  • And verify how difficult they would be for your business to achieve rankings with. See competition later.

The end result is a shortlist of keywords and keyword phrases to target with a supporting summary. Easy to read and understand. Essentially, your SEO strategy.

 

Who are you up against? Your real competition...

Your real competition are the businesses occupying the search engine slots where you would like to be. They're not necessarily the ones you would expect. But they are the ones that you need to beat in the rankings.

I thoroughly assess their landing pages that you'll competing with. Where are they strong? Where are they weak? What can you do that will allow you to rank where they are or better?

I investigate:

  • Your competitions' on-page SEO. This is an in-depth analysis of how well they have optimised their landing pages.
  • Votes of confidence: how many quality, relevant inbound links they have, which in the eyes of search engines, are votes of confidence. The more one has, the easier it is to rank.
  • Core web vitals: Are your competitors super-charged for speed (i.e. how quickly a page loads)? Do they care enough about disabled users? And have they coded their website in the best possible way. These are your core web vitals and they matter for search engine optimisation.

Your websites content. Content recommendations

Quality content is a key-driver behind high-performing landing pages. Take this page, I go into depth about how I will work with you. I take care with everything I'm saying on this page (All text has been carefully written by hand. No generic AI-generated copy - that matters!).

In the report, I will provide a recommended URL site map for your site that will support your new keyword strategy. We can discuss this and run different iterations of it. I will take your content management system into consideration, so any recommendations are able to be implemented.

 

The report

The aim is to provide you with a useful, value-adding document, that can act as your guide, your blueprint. It's a Google document so it can be shared and commented on. It will have appendices that reach out to URL maps, and data analysis spreadsheets so that you can see the background work.

The report forms your base-line. I recommend running a report once or twice a year. In this way, you'll be able to see progress towards your SEO goals.
